Frequently Asked Questions

Manual

Card list screen A card shown full-screen on iPhone
Card list on Apple Watch The same card shown on Apple Watch

Your cards

The Cards tab lists everything you have saved, sorted by name. Tap a card to show its code. The search field above the list matches both card names and card numbers, which is the quickest way through a long list.

Card numbers are deliberately not printed in the list. Anyone glancing at your screen would otherwise see every membership number you own at once.

Showing a card

Tap a card and it fills the screen, with the number underneath so you can read it out if a scanner refuses. The screen also goes to full brightness while a code is showing and returns to your usual level when you leave, because shop scanners have a much easier time with a bright screen.

The code is drawn so that every bar lands on whole screen pixels. That sounds pedantic, but it is what lets the laser scanners at a register read the screen: they decode from the ratios between bar widths, and a barcode that has been stretched by a fraction of a pixel has uneven bars.

Adding a card

Adding a card with the camera Adding a card from a photo Typing a member number by hand

The Add tab offers three ways in. Tap the switcher at the top, or swipe between them:

While you are scanning, the screen shows nothing but the camera: no forms to fill in. Once a code is found the app confirms it and shows you the decoded number, so you can check it against the card in your hand before saving. Then you give it a name and a colour. If something looks wrong, Discard puts you straight back to the camera.

Confirming a scanned code, then naming it

You can also send a code in from another app: screenshot it, tap Share, and choose Membership Navi. It scans the image and opens the same confirmation screen.

Editing and deleting

Swiping a card left reveals Delete Swiping a card right reveals Edit

Swipe a card left to delete it, or right to edit it. Editing lets you change the name and the colour stripe.

On a scanned card the number and its format are shown but cannot be changed. That is on purpose: the app reproduces the code exactly as it was on your card, and editing the value would quietly break that promise. To change a scanned card's code, add the card again by scanning it. Cards you typed in by hand stay fully editable.

Apple Watch

The watch app lists the same cards and shows any of them full-screen on white, which is as bright as watchOS allows. It keeps its own copy, so it works with your iPhone in a bag or at home.

New cards appear on the watch once iCloud has synced them, which usually takes a moment. If a card says it cannot generate a code, open it once on your iPhone and give sync a little time.

Settings

The Settings tab

Auto Max Brightness controls the full-brightness behaviour described above. Turn it off if you would rather the app left your screen alone.

iCloud Sync is a status line, not a switch. It reports whether your cards are syncing, so a silent failure is visible: if it says you are not signed in, sign in to iCloud in the Settings app and your cards will sync and be restored if you ever reinstall.

Privacy Policy

Introduction

Membership Navi is built around a simple principle: your data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses and how it is handled.

Camera Access

The app uses your device's camera to scan barcodes and QR codes on your cards. The camera feed is processed entirely on your device. No images or video frames are ever stored, uploaded, or shared with anyone.

Photo Access

When you add a card from a photo, you pick a single image using the system photo picker. The app never receives access to your photo library.

Your Cards and iCloud

The cards you save are stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, synced through your personal iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) so they appear on all your devices, including Apple Watch, and are restored when you reinstall the app. This database belongs to your Apple Account: we cannot read, access, or share its contents. We operate no servers of our own.

No Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or process any personal information. The app does not require an account or any form of registration, and contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.

Purchases

Membership Navi is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never receive your Apple ID, payment method, or any other payment information.

Children's Privacy

Because no personal data is collected by us, Membership Navi complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations worldwide.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective immediately upon posting. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
